Waste Management Hosts Health Screening/Awareness Events for Employees, Installs Defibrillators in San Diego County Facilities
Company Also Launches Work/Home Safety Guide to Help Keep Employees, Families Safe

WHAT:

As part of its commitment to ensuring the health and safety of its nearly 500 employees in San Diego County, next week Waste Management will host three health screening and awareness events at its facilities in Carlsbad, Oceanside and El Cajon as part of the company’s week-long “Operation Safety Excellence II.” Working in conjunction with Health Solutions Management, Waste Management will provide employees with the opportunity to check their blood pressure, do a “finger stick” to obtain a full lipid panel, receive a body mass index/body fat analysis and participate in health counseling with on-site healthcare professionals. All activities will take place before or at the end of the employees’ workdays and take 20 minutes or less.

In addition, Waste Management will be installing one automated external defibrillator (AED) each at its Carlsbad, Oceanside and El Cajon facilities in order to provide an immediate response in the event an employee experiences a cardiac emergency. Five people at each site will be trained on the use of the machine. Employees will also next week be receiving a work/home safety guide to help them and their families connect the safety programs they participate in at work to their activities at home, providing an extra measure of protection for them and their loved ones in their off-work hours.
